COLONIA ULPIA OESCENSIUM - a Roman town near the village of Gigen, Pleven district. Built in II c. near the place where the Iskar river runs into the Danube. Oescus flourishes culturally and economically during the time of Antonines and Severans dynasties - II and the beginning of III c. It is destroyed by the Avars in the end of VIc.

The majestic ruins of the antique town impress visitors with their grandeur and artistic value - The forum, the civil basilica, the temples of the Capitolian Trinity (Jupiter, Juno,and Minerva), the temple of Fortune, administrative buildings.

Storgozia fortress - is situated in the Kailaka park, near the town of Pleven. Built in the late antique period - IV-VI c., on an area of 31 decares. Preserved and restored are: the fortification system, early-Christian basilica and choreum. The basilica with dimensions 45 by 22 meters is three-naved, three-abscind, with a colonade on the south side.
